About

Hello!
You may know me from my other site, Appetite for China, and my book, The Chinese Takeout Cookbook (Random House/Ballantine Books 2012).
This is my newer site devoted to cooking and dining out, mainly around my borough of Brooklyn. Welcome!
The name of the blog refers to a galley kitchen. I’ve lived in so many apartments with a galley kitchen in New York. My current one measures 8′ x 3′ in walkable area. It goes to show you don’t need a big space to whip up something delicious.
My book, blogs, and I have been in the media quite a bit, including features or mentions on The CBS Early Show, WNYC Radio, and in The Washington Post, The NY Daily News, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Saveur, and The Guardian. I’ve also done food & travel writing for The Boston Globe, Gourmet, Food & Wine, and Time Out New York.
Some of my favorite things in life are Mad Men, gin cocktails, puppies, and Prospect Park.

Hello Diana.
It was great to read you recipes today. I am a food lover and a professional chef in the past. My husband insists that I also have to start my own cook book one day.
Thanks for the inspiration
